Alien Abductions

Alien abductions have been a subject of fascination and intrigue for many years. The phenomenon of alien abductions refers to statements made by individuals who believe they have been taken by aliens and subjected to various experiences some of the most likely were experiments that were being performed. While some skeptics dismiss these accounts as mere fiction or hallucination, there are so many stories and accounts that cannot be easily explained and many of these are by very credible resources, so I believe many of them are legitimate. I put my personal experience in the section of my book, Aliens Are with Us, called ‘What I Believe’ because I believe I was abducted by the aliens that have visited me over one hundred times spanning over fifty years, but I didn’t actually see the aliens or recall any interaction with them. The other section of my book ‘What I Know’ details the other experiences which are ones in which I am 100% positive were visits from aliens.

Historical accounts of alien abductions

Beliefs and stories about alien abductions are not a recent development. In fact, there are historical accounts that suggest such events have been happening for centuries. Ancient civilizations, such as the Sumerians and the Egyptians, have depicted encounters with beings from other worlds in their writings and artwork. These accounts often describe interactions with beings who possessed advanced knowledge and technology. Similarly, Native American tribes have oral traditions that speak of encounters with "star people” or “sky people” who would take individuals on journeys to distant lands. What's even more intriguing is that these extraterrestrials are believed by many Indigenous groups to be relatives or even ancestors of theirs.

Common characteristics of alien abduction experiences

While the details of alien abduction experiences may vary from person to person, there are several common characteristics that emerge across different accounts. One of the most commonly reported features is the feeling of being paralyzed or unable to move during the abduction. Many individuals also describe a sense of floating or being levitated as they are taken by the aliens. The presence of bright lights and the sensation of being examined or probed are also frequently reported. Additionally, abductees often speak of missing time, where they have no recollection of what occurred during the period they believe they were abducted.

Theories and explanations for alien abductions

Given the mysterious nature of alien abductions, numerous theories and explanations have been proposed to make sense of these experiences. One prominent theory suggests that alien abductions are a manifestation of sleep paralysis, a condition in which the body is temporarily paralyzed during the transition between sleep and wakefulness. Although when I googled ‘sleep paralysis’ one article I read stated that many people even stated they had seen ‘extraterrestrial beings’ and my immediate reaction was that’s because they had seen them, so it really gave more credibility to their beliefs since it apparently is a common occurrence during so called sleep paralysis. Another theory proposes that alien abductions are a result of false memories, where individuals create or reconstruct memories that did not actually occur. This theory speculates that external influences, such as hypnosis or suggestive interviewing techniques, may lead individuals to believe they have been abducted. I’m sure that might occur in some cases but many people that believe they have been abducted have never been through hypnosis or interviews to discuss their experiences which totally invalidates this theory for those cases.

Famous alien abduction incidents

Over the years, several famous alien abduction cases have gotten significant attention and public interest. One of the most well-known cases is the Betty and Barney Hill incident, which took place in 1961. Their episode began by them seeing a UFO in the sky which eventually landed in front of them at which point they experienced lost time and a very hazy memory of what happened next. The Hills went through hypnosis to help remember their experiences and later stated they were taken aboard a spacecraft and subjected to medical examinations by alien beings. Their detailed accounts and the inclusion of hypnosis in retrieving suppressed memories added credibility to their story. Another notable case is the Travis Walton abduction in 1975. Walton alleged that he was taken by a UFO while working in a forest and was missing for five days before reappearing. These cases, along with others like the Allagash abductions and the Pascagoula incident, have left a lasting impact on the public's perception of alien abductions.

My possible abduction occurred in 2020. One night while sleeping I woke up and I don’t recall having any particular dream at that moment, but I suddenly felt an upward motion, and I was rotating slowly as I moved upwards. I looked down and saw Earth fading away beneath me. The next thing I recall, Earth was coming into focus beneath me again, but this time I was moving towards it, and I was dropped quickly down. Instantly, I was completely awake in my bed. I immediately sat straight up, but I felt extremely dizzy, so I steadied myself by putting my arms out to my sides to hold myself upright. I sat there for a few seconds, thinking through what had just happened, but the dizziness was really bothering me, so I lay back down, continuing to try to make sense of what I had just experienced. Within a few minutes, the dizziness had passed. But I was a bit scared, trying to think back on what I had seen and felt to try to determine whether I might have really just left Earth and returned. I wasn’t terrified like the other times when they were watching me or walking around on the roof above me, because this time it was in a dream, and it may have been nothing more than a dream but the feelings I had during the dream combined with the bizarre dizziness made me think that something may have actually occurred. I was sixty four years old at the time and had never, ever had an experience like this before so it seemed very unlikely it was just a dream.

Myths and misconceptions about alien abductions

Alien abductions have been surrounded by numerous myths and misconceptions. One common myth is that all individuals claiming to have been abducted are seeking attention or are having hallucinations. However, research has shown that many abductees are sincere in their beliefs and genuinely struggle to make sense of their experiences. Another misconception is that all abductions involve invasive and traumatic procedures. While some accounts do describe distressing experiences, there are also reports of peaceful encounters and positive interactions.

For those who believe they have been abducted, the psychological and physiological effects can be profound. While discussing my experience I was once asked if I had ever considered being hypnotized to help recall what might have happened. But I replied that I had no interest in that because I personally had rather not know any details around it and I gained nothing from the hypnosis. If some memories were recalled it would just possibly make me fearful of going to sleep and it happening again and would do nothing towards validating my experience. Skeptics are never going to believe anything that might come out of hypnosis so for me there is nothing to gain. Some abductees state they experience feelings of fear, anxiety, and a sense of powerlessness. They may also develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, such as nightmares and flashbacks. Personally, I’m grateful that I don’t have any of those reactions and am happy to just leave it a vague experience.

If you feel as if you are involved with a being with malicious intent I came across a website (the author has books available as well) that talks about how to defend yourself against abductions and keep the beings away from you. The interactions I have had have not seemed to have a malicious intent so I have not delved too deeply into her writings but the link to the site follows for those that are interested.  Alien abduction help
